Fittingly, Ganondorf is the same person while Link and Zelda are new incarnations.
Role Reprise: While Link and Zelda were given new voice actors, Takashi Nagasako reprised his role of Ganondorf from Ocarina of Time. Not to be confused with the first boss of Ocarina, which was an arachnid, not a myriapod. Notably, Ocarina of Time was originally going to have a Wind Temple, and that Fado was likely intended to have been the Sage of Wind, so him having the same name is likely a reference to that. He shares his name with a female Kokiri from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. No relation to the main character from Grand Theft Auto IV, nor the main character from One Shot. Seems like Mako gave up probending to be a pirate. No relation to the doctor or "The Great". 
Another pirate on Tetra's crew's name is Gonzo. Or he was going to be a Grand Summoner, but turned around at the Calm Lands. Maybe he's just having adventures away from Sandy. Maybe he joined the crew looking for a means of transport so he could hunt down the Avatar. Thus, if the player levitates up to the top of Dragon Roost Mountain from the overworld map, they'll find that the top of the Mountain isn't actually animated at all from above, and it's just a hollow, glitchy tube that allows the player to see all the way through to the ocean. When climbing Dragon Roost Mountain, the player will pass through several doors that actually load new maps at the top of the mountain. 
This can be done indefinitely (unless you crash the game).

Model Dissonance: One Pro-Action Replay cheat code enables the player to hold a button to levitate. There's also quite a few optional convenience tweaks the player can choose to start out with, such as beginning with the HD remaster's Swift Sail. The Wind Waker Randomizer is a program designed for the Gamecube version that switches around the contents of the game's chests depending on the player's specifications, letting the player wander a completely open Great Sea with the goal of making it to Ganondorf.
